I am currently drawing some gradients by altering the color slightly for
every row of a canvas. I am thinking of doing something similar for some
rectangles to get a textured look. Is this the way to go, or is it
better to make backgrounds in photoshop?
It's hard to answer this without knowing more about your production
process. But probably, the canned backgrounds are a more flexible
approach.
In particular, can you stick all of these graphics in a file which
is hidden from the user, so they appear to be part and parcel of the
program?
You can, but better yet, drag them into your project. Then they
really ARE part and parcel of your program, and not a file at all.
PS - Does this message appear with HTML? I'm using system 9 rather than X.
AOL/X has no controls for that, but I am wondering if this is any better?
Yes! Finally I can read your messages. :) I still encourage you to
complain to the AOL people about it (or ditch their email client and
use something else -- I use Eudora on both 9 and X, and love it).
Best,
- Joe
