But that's not the whole story. There is also something called
"Extended ASCII", which (under Windows) does include a copyright
symbol. But the extended ASCII character set is different depending on
who you talk to. (IBM's extended set does not include the copyright
symbol). This is probably the problem Peter is banging his head
against. It may look like there's an ASCII code for the copyright
symbol, but it depends on who's character set you're using. And to make
matters worse, even if the extended set you're using does include the
copyright symbol, there's no guarantee it will be in the same position.
It's just like being back in the world of CLUTs. :(
