Application control

Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing RealBasic but have a question on a certain 
function that I need.  I have been using Winbatch for Windows to control 
and automate various applications but need something that is not script 
based as I need more speed.
Can RealBasic control and gather information from other running 
applications like getting button values and reading/writing in text box 
information etc?
Any help would be appreciated.
