Right. Neither of those options are valid for the REAL Database. (Sorry about the unclear error message -- that will be improved in the near future.)

Can anyone confirm this? Is there a work around?

Yes, the "Doctor, it hurts when I do this!" work-around (i.e., don't do that). All fields in the new database engine are mandatory anyway, and you can index whatever columns you want.
