Yeah unless you've got BBEdit, firestarter fx or the like. They try take over 
from .bins


I am using the RB Windows IDE to build for the Mac.  The file it
creates is a .bin file.  When I open this file on a Mac it uses
stuffit expander to create the application (executable) file.
However, I see that most people post Mac programs in the .sit
compressed file type.  Do I have to copy the file from windows to a
Mac, uncompress it, then recompress it to a .sit file every time, or
is there an easier way?


Speaking as a mac user, I think the .bin format should be just fine,
but regardless, Stuffit is available for Windows also: www.stuffit.com
