Well, then you may need to fiddle with the style to make it sunken instead
of borderless (or perhaps raised). It's pretty easy to extend the declare
library to use the WS_EX styles instead. But, I guess what I'm wondering
is -- why is having the plainbox in the taskbar so bad?

Hypothetically, setting the WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW property will remove it from
the taskbar. But I've found that in XP that isn't true.
If you want to play with the Ex styles (extended styles), then modify the
Declare Library to use:
Const GWL_EXSTYLE = -20
instead of:
Const GWL_STYLE = -16
in the example code, and then you just need to find the proper constants for
the styles you're trying for (you can find them on any VB declare sites).
