EditCell doesn't accept data via code

I have a listbox. Using EditCell, the user is allowed to enter data. 
The user has forgotten to press return after entering data in a cell. 
The code cannot later write to that cell because return was never 
pressed. Is there a way to "hit return" with code if the user forgets?
