There's some sort of disconnect in this discussion. The "average" print
examples print text and graphics and the system sets up something which is
something like 580 x 670 (I forgot the exact numbers) - regardless
of the printer resolution.
Or said another way: by default, the printer resolution is 72 dpi.
This is true.
However, when I was first trying to get printing to work, I did
something from Matt's book with setting the resolution to max
resolution - and I did get true hairline prints - however, all the
text was really tiny.
Right, which is part of why we default to 72. When doing
high-resolution printing, you have to scale up your drawing
(including your text sizes).
Can someone clarify how this process works. Is there a default page
resolution which can be overridden?
Yep (72).
