It is certainly a good idea.
But $200 to $250 per set would be more realistic for non-show
attenders. Maybe a special deal of $50 for show attenders this year
and include it in the attendance price for next year's show.
Keep in mind that at Apple's WWDC, there are 10 to 12 sessions going on
at the same time, and each room would require their own camera crew.
After all of the REAL World sessions are recorded, the camera crews
paid, post-production, the DVD masters made, it will still cost $5000+
to manufacture the actual DVD sets. Even at $250 it might be a gamble
that RS could break-even on the deal.
Maybe if they took pre-orders before the show (including 50% down), and
the response was good enough, would they would consider it a worthwhile
endeavor.
