What about keeping it very simple, and set up some consumer DV cameras - one
per room, and use Apple's imovie to make some quick and dirty DVD's - no menu
or extra features - no fancy four color printed covers. At this stage it would
be quite understandable.
You know the law of supply and demand - if 100 people are willing to spend
$1000-2000, then there might be a 1000 willing to spend $150 - and still 90
willing to spend the $1000-2000 to come.
Keep in mind with new customers buy RB they might want to buy the past
several years worth of DVD's (once there is a library). Some third party might
even
undertake the task of organizing them, cross-referencing topics, and making a
more pro-dvd product later.
When considering the costs, if it costs $400 for the conference, that is not
all profit I would imagine if there are hall rentals, catered food, etc.
Its a win-win situation - the users want to learn more and find more use for
RB too - so there is word of mouth, more upgrades purchased, etc.
The overall problem I am experiencing is being caught in the void between the
few introductory books, and the level to understand all of the details of a
developers conference. I don't know how people jump that chasm.
