Oh, come on. User conferences aren't exactly notorious as a source of
obscene profits.

The DVD idea would be a good tactic but a bad strategy. A lot of companies
think they can train their people by videotaping a product manager's
presentation and sending it out on DVD. It makes them feel like they are
doing something, which they are, but not anything really useful.

By the way, a quickie session at REAL World has equally limited utility. And
while we're at it, who knew, until this thread came along, that there was
going to be a session on printing at REAL World? I, for one, might consider
attending REAL World if I had a specific sense of what I would get out of
it.

Back to the point: if I were directing Real's resources, it would be toward
more good old-fashioned manuals and tutorials for this and other critically
needed areas.
