One would think that an "Ampersand" in a string should be treated differently at runtime as these doubling up things are usually done in the IDE.

Feature request or Bug report???

Neither.

PS. I am anticipating flack about Windows StaticTexts and Dynamic Menus for windows.

As well as PushButtons, CheckBoxes, RadioButtons and most controls for Windows and Linux.

You *need* way to set the mnemonic at runtime just as much as you do at design time. This is the most consistent, functional way.
