failed assertion with PixMap rotation

I have to update the situation of bug report 85839 (pixMapRotation 
problems, quoted at the end...). With 4.5fc4 the failed assertion is 
now PixMapRotation.cpp 439 instead of 433.
Still I cannot rotate a large picture (a 7MB tiff file, 612 x 1008), 
even if I assign very large memory to IDE or compiled app under 
Classic. Same problem with OS X, with 1.2 GB RAM.
The pixMap is only shown when rotation = 0, or (with some delay) if I 
first set e very small scale.
