Summary:
[PPC] HTTPSocket crashes when reading large files

Report Reference ID:
ahcqnlgr

Development Environment:
5.5a7 Mac OS X OS: Mac OS X 10.2.x

Issue appears in:
Built Application -- Classic OS: Mac OS 9

Severity:
Crash

Description:
Reading a large file with an HTTPSocket will crash with a "PowerPC unmapped memory exception", long before the application's memory space is exhausted. ( I have also seen this problem with a straight TCPSocket, so the problem may in fact be with a leak or pointer in lower level code.)

Reproducible:
Always

Reproduce Steps:
Build the attached "HTTPSocket Test" project for Mac OS Classic. If running under OS X Classic, open the Classic System Preference and click the Memory/Versions tab to monitor Classic memory use. Run the project and click the Download button to read a test file from the RB web site. Watch the application memory usage, when it gets to around 4.8 MB (of 12MB allocated), the app will crash.

Workaround:
none

OS Version:
Mac OS 9

Product Version:
5.5a7 Mac OS X
