Brian,

I just noticed b3 today and tested my complex windows.
You are absolutely correct.

"[Fix] [Car] TabPanel: certain controls (e.g., the BevelButton) no
longer disappear when on a tab panel, within the bounds of
a GroupBox located on a different tab. (Feedback ID:
            nzhoggky)"

This is not fixed at all.

I finally had to send a message to Geoff Perlman to get someone to recognize how big this bug is. (a month or so ago) It was then that I finally made the connection between group boxes and the invisible controls and submitted a simple project showing this. I also added to the "nzhoggky" bug report showing that many controls are affected by the bug.

I don't know how they can say this is fixed when it is very obviously not.

So, you are not alone... there are many of us waiting for this bug to be fixed.

There is certainly a shortfall in the facilities for selecting controls on complex windows etc., however are you (also) referring to the serious bug where controls (originally it was thought only bevel buttons) 'disappear'? If so, look at past posts and sign on to the related feedback entries. RB5.5.2b3 states that this is fixed, however I had a quick run on it and I experienced even worse symptoms, I have not had a response to my post on this or my comments on the 'fixed' feedback - nzhoggky.

I have now finally (touch wood) been able to move up to 5.5.1 (from 5.2.4) thanks to Keith DeLongs's assistance. Keith identified the problems being due to groupboxes, if you eliminate them from your tabpanels your controls will reappear. Keith has made xtools available which has a pseudo groupbox based on a canvas, I have since chopped this down to suit my needs and, so far, things are looking good. Obviously, you will lose grouping features for radio buttons but that's a relatively small problem.

xTools is here:

I have seen this behavior under windows since I started using RB...this is compounded by the fact that there is no way to select a control without using the mouse. In VB, you can select a control that is obscured or "off
window" using a drop down list. Hopefully RB6 will have this as well.

These IDE tabpanel bugs are getting absolutely ridiculous. I was trying to copy two controls from one tab to another, and when I copied them, it asked me if I wanted to copy the embedded controls since I accidently had the tab panel selected as well. I said no and instantly all of my controls either were only half drawn or completely gone. It wasn't just a one-time visual glitch, because closing the window and reopening it just made everything but the tabpanel disappear. They're all still selectable, but just invisible. This is a lot like the "drag this control on top of this one and it disappears" bug.

I can revert to my saved project, but still. These bugs are just plain annoying. I'm hoping RB 6 won't have any of these bugs. And it's not like they're new; many of these bugs have been around since version 3 or before.

This is in 5.5.2b2 by the way.
