Try building the application instead of running it debug. It behaves
quite differently, particularly without the lag.
Any help tracking down the reason for the delay would help.
Also, for some reason, I cannot get the keydown.asynckeypress to return
true for escape or commandkeys, and hence, not quit. Still have to
force quit the app.

First, it doesn't run in the IDE. I get an error: OutOfBoundsException
in Maze.checkbounds.
I build the application and run it and it does run. But. It must be
sucking up all CPU power, as the fans in my G5 ramp up to wind tunnel
speed. And the colors of the maze are all rainbow. And the speed is
uncontrollable. I'll try poking around to see what I can see.
