I picked up a tool just a while back called DarkBASIC. It's
basically just an interface for working with DirectX that uses a
variation of the BASIC language, but it is so easy to work with and
is very feature rich. I can easily do collision detection, use 3D
models with bones, import full 3D maps, use multiple lighting, fog,
particle effects, pixel and vertex shaders, use joysticks with force
feedback, DirectSound (3D sound), etc. etc.
The smooth way all of these features are wrapped up in DarkBASIC is
what I'd like to see in RB.
For those interested in DarkBASIC you can get info and demos of
games made with DarkBASIC from the company site at
http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/ Alas, it is Windows only
and that is it's biggest negative point.
BTW both Jmagic and Blitz basic are supposed to come to mac...
But who really knows when...
