Why not use the free Display Overlord plug-in? I tried it out and it's fantastic.

Since it makes a good finished app for people to learn from.

Why? What do you see as the advantage of "real" resolution changing over making use of the full screen at the user's normal resolution? It seems to me that the latter will make a better-looking game.

I know that some have said that some video cards can't handle a full 3D display at high resolution very well. But Armageddon only goes at 30 fps anyway. Is anyone actually observing performance problems in full-screen mode?
