Partially hidden polygons

still wrestling w/ the x-ray vision thing...

part of the issue seems to be that my uneven landscape reveals or hides parts of hillsides depending on camera position, so sometimes the renderer gets confused - it will actually alternate between showing the one that should be behind the other and not showing it...

Any ideas on how to remedy this?

For hiding other objects that appear through the landscape I've been thinking about creating a "Ground" class which would act like the Occluders. Does that make sense? And what would be a good way to determine if a hillside is between the camera and the object?
