That's true, but you can get away with somewhat primitive graphics if
the gameplay is good (especially if it's just a free little game). And
if it's sufficiently fun, you can often even con a talented artist
into making it look pretty -- this is my usual approach, at least. :)

Before you publish or spread it on the net, you could start off by using
the graphics of Zelda of the old NES... I also started off with Super
Mario graphics when I made my SuperMario Clone.
