I ve seen a lot of ideas, most of the time good ones but...
From my own (small?) experience about game making, I'll say that it s very easy to throw marvelous ideas, and A LOT HARDER to programm them...
so one question... have anyone really thought about the development???
Like Joe said in the beginning, 99% of the people here will said to themselves "someone will do it"... And it seems that this is exactly what's happening... Lot's of ideas, opinions, etc but nothing has been started... Am I wrong???

For such a game, you'd need some graphics (having red pixels for the zombis, green ones for the humans and so on doesn't seem a good idea... nobody will ask for doom3 graphics but at least something like using snes standards is a must...), you'll need sounds (for zombis, humans, weapons, ambiant sounds, and a few musics) and finally you'll need to code all that together along with AAAAAAAAALL the rules, behaviors, fog-of-war, pathfinding and such...

That's a big and tough job...

What seems appealing here is that, if you speack a bit fast, you have the feeling that this zombie idea is the kind of game you'll be able to do in a day or two... WRONG... (how many times have I said that to myself... "hmmm i'll make a very small RPG (or else...)." And after a few days: "damn... it's a lot harder than it seems...") even if you manage to have a good, solid (and let's say simple) 2d engine, you'll have to create all the maps one by one... thus you'll start digging in "creating a map editor"... while creating this map editor you'll meet other kind of problems...

I'm not willing to discourage anyone but if someone is really thinking about developping, I'd suggest he send a "call for help"... this wont be a single project... (that's only my opinion though, maybe I AM the one who totally s**ck at programming maybe??)

Well, eventually, I'll say that the wise programmer, wanting to make a game, will wait to have all the graphics/sounds, etc before beginning coding... doing otherwise drives to failure (<- stil something from my own experience...)

(moreover, concerning speed issues I wouldn't use RB for the game itself (not willing to tell what I'd use 'cause I don't want to advertise on an RB mailing list but...)... and I would use RB to make the map editor...)

If some people (at least 1 or 2) would join me in this project, I'd be willing to give it a try... I won't do it if I m alone though cause I know i wouldn't achieve anything by myself... (as for the resources, I do have some graphics (legally useable), mostly tiles, I can find some sounds... but I'll need help for coding... I would like someone to make the map editor for example...)
well... that's it so far :)

(and sorry if I ve made a whole lot of mistakes, I'm french so my english is far from perfect :) )
