I see...it looks (from DL'ing the demo) like BlitzMax gives you a bunch of cross-platform 2D libraries plus OpenGL access, whereas Blitz3D gives you a bunch of Windows-only 3D stuff (using D3D) plus 3D libraries. So BlitzMax is not really a replacement for Blitz3D (otherwise it wouldn't be $20 less).
