I checked out the "vector plugin" thread you suggested.

Your discussions in that thread are pretty much what I'm trying to say.
Personally, I was quite surprised that REALBasic even provided any kind of
3D capability. Furthermore, I was impressed by what REALBasic did offer for
3D programming.

However, as your discussions in the "vector plugin" thread elucidate,
there is no way beyond using plug-ins to improve the 3D capabilities of
REALBasic. This imposes a serious constraint on someone wanting more than
what is already offered.

All I was trying to say, originally, was that what REALBasic offers is
about as good as its going to get for 3D, unless you incorporate some
serious power into the language. At which point, the Beginner's All-purpose
accessibility of REALBasic diminishes.

If someone where to ask me: "What language should I use if I want to
program 3D games for the Macintosh?" I would answer Objective C. If
someone where to ask me: "What language should I use if I want to learn
programming?", or "What language makes it easy to write applications quickly
for the Macintosh?" or "What language is made by a company which knows how
to take money from its loyal customer base?" I'd answer REALBasic.

Personally, I have an affinity for the C-family, I just like the
language, always have. But, when I just want to start coding, explore an
idea, produce something without a lot of hassle I right away go to
REALBasic. I think that is the strength of the REALBasic. However, as with
any strength, it comes with a cost. It just seemed to me people wanted it
for free.
