I stopped procrastinating and finally got a usable OBJ to 3DMF
conversion tool: <http://developer.chaoticbox.com/files/realbasic/
OBJto3DMF.zip> This archive contains the REALbasic project and some
readmes but you'll also need PNG Utilities plugin and Quesa to get it
working...
Although this project is tied to Quesa and 3DMF, the actual OBJ file
loader and internal 3D representation is totally generic. You can rip
out the relevant bits and load OBJ files anywhere, with or without
Quesa - though drawing them remains your responsibility.
This was developed and tested on Mac OS X, but it should run on
Windows and in Classic (I imagine there may be some glitches though).
Consider this a "developer quality" tool, there's no undo, progress
dialogs, or extensive error checking, so if anyone wants to improve
things please be my guest. At some point I'd like to make a more
generic 3D format converter but for now this opens OBJ (and only OBJ)
and saves 3DMF (and only 3DMF).
Comments and suggestions are welcome...
Frank.
