I was testing to see if things were being culled out properly when I
happened upon this find. It was as if switching rendering modes
refreshed whatever Quesa 1.7 forgot to do initially.
As mentioned in the previous email, once I toggled wireframe mode
on/off in Renegades, 1.7 became a bit faster than 1.6d20.
I suspect the speed increase might be harder to notice on faster
machines.

There is: Hold down the space bar during while launching the game will
bring up a stats window showing where potential bottlenecks lie. A
console field will appear below the game window as well, allowing one
to pause the game and type in commands to affect the game directly.
