Cannot load sound file

Hello - I'm trying to import some .wav sound files into a project. If I drag
the file into the project window an alias does appear in the project window.
But trying to run the program results in "cannot load sound file".

I notice an attempt to import the file through the menu option "Import..."
does not recognize the sound file as eligible for importing.

So are not all .wav files equal?
