Hi Joe,
I will try compiling the application and see what happens, I am using
HFS+ for my filing system and I was using the run command without
changing the build settings so it was a PEF (I think), however I did
try changing it to Mac OS X Only and that still didn't work.
I copied it by simply dragging the file and holding down the option
key and when that didn't work I moved it around by simply dragging
the file from folder to folder.
So I have just tried compiling it and it didn't work, so I made a new
folder on the desktop and dragged the application and HID.Bundle into
that folder and run the application and it worked!
I figured it out! The name of the folder on the Desktop was 'Untitled
Folder', I gave it the same name as the folder when my rb project and
HID.Bundle is stored which is 'MacOS' and re-ran the application and
it didn't work.
The path to my project is as follows:
/users/rowlands/Programming/GameInputTest/MacOS/
The reason why I develop in a folder called MacOS is because I always
develop as it the application was in a bundle!
I have since been testing and found that the only way in which I can
use this is to compile as a PEF and NOT bundle the application. It
doesn't (for me) if I compile as Mach-O, even if I put HID.Bundle in
the MacOS folder of the Mach-O bundle or in the resources folder. Is
there something I am missing or should I file a feature request so
that I can create a Bundle and include the HID.Bundle in the
Application Bundle?
Thanks for helping me in the mean time find the cause of this.
As usual Joe has been very helpful and I look forward to being able
to thank him at the next REALWorld (which hopefully I will be able to
go in 2006) :-)

If I try the 5.5 example on game input it work fine providing that
it is left in the same folder it was in (my RB folder and 5.5
examples). If I move it and HID.Bundle into another folder it no
longer works and only displays Keyboard and Mouse!
That is very odd, to say the least. What if you make a built app,
and move that plus its HID.Bundle somewhere else? How are you moving
these files? Is there something unusual about the file system you're
running on? Are you building PEF or Mach-O?
Just grasping at straws here... I've never heard anything like this
before.
Best,
