I figured it out! The name of the folder on the Desktop was

Ah, could be that if it's in a folder called MacOS, then it thinks
it's in a bundle and goes looking in the wrong place for the library.
I have since been testing and found that the only way in which I can
use this is to compile as a PEF and NOT bundle the application. It
doesn't (for me) if I compile as Mach-O, even if I put HID.Bundle in
the MacOS folder of the Mach-O bundle or in the resources folder. Is
there something I am missing or should I file a feature request so
that I can create a Bundle and include the HID.Bundle in the
Application Bundle?
I believe you CAN do that, but it may have to be a PEF app -- I'm not
sure whether HID.Bundle (and the GameInput classes) are compatible
with Mach-O or not. But there's no reason you can't bundle a PEF
app, and then it should work just fine, provided HID.Bundle is in the
right place (which I *think* is right inside the bundle's "main
directory," but experiment).
