I am still playing with Game Input Devices and having fun while I am
at it. I quickly realized however that it is very frustrating when a
game says to press 'button #3' and I have to think which button is
#3? I realized what would be more helpful is if it gave me a more
descriptive name, now I don't know if other game controllers do this
or not but anyway I deciced to write a simple module which you can
add to your project and when you want to display a button's name to
the user you can the device.DisplayName or Element.DisplayName and if
the module knows this device it will return a more understandable
name for the button.
I will try to get my hands on as many game controllers as I possibly
can (within reason), but I was hoping that if any other game
developers have game controllers they could add in their game
controller and we could expand this module. This module is totally
free as I would like to see it expanded to cover as many game
controllers as possible.
You can download it from
http://homepage.mac.com/rowlands/gameinputdisplayname.zip
If you add your game controller to the module then please send me the
updated code so that I can then update anyone else who might like to
use it.

Sam Rowlands
