Right -- but I just hate doing a lot of work on just a "maybe Ill give it a
look, son - in my own sweet time".

Again true. It doesn't cost them anything to say that -- especially if they
want to avoid having the same conversation over and over again.

But if you've sat down with these types of companies, you'll find they tend
to see these endeavors as a licensing proposal -- meaning they could come
back and say, sure, but we want $10K up front and an X% royalty - they love
those up front fees!

My recommendation -- have more fun inventing your own.
