Board games have a broader appeal and while margins arent all that
different, the price range is broader. However COGs except in the value
portion are creeping upwards.

Exactly! Since paper games have terrible margins comparatively to software,
they are preconditioned to say yes in many respects.

$5K-$10K will actually net a few product licenses. But known licenses
(insert your favorite movie or tv show) generally have separate terms, ie
"you have 2-5 years to net a return, then we renegotiate".
