Why isn't there a way to add a trimesh to an Object3D?

They serve different purposes. A trimesh represents, well, a single trimesh. An Object3D represents multiple sets of arbitrary geometry.

Say if I have a trimesh and the new text takes more characters than the current trimesh allows, I would have to create a new trimesh.

Why? You can change the mesh however you want, right, right?
