My question is this -- I'd really like to support playback of arbitrary 3D animations. Is there any sort of standard 3D animation format that includes plugins for all 3 platforms that would work via the HTMLViewer control? In other words, is there any sort of 3DMF-like file format which includes not only model & texture definitions, but animation scripting as well?

Unfortunately everyone and their grandma claims to have a "standard" 3D format. The buzz nowadays seem to revolve around FBX, X3D (the successor to VRML), and Collada. I've never dealt directly with any of those formats so I can't offer much more insight, but they're all relatively young and I don't think you'll find robust cross-platform browser/RB plugins for any of them.

Frank.
