Display Overlord is an open source plugin for REALbasic that provides
methods and classes to control video display resolution, refresh
rate, colour depth, and brightness. Additional methods are provided
to gather display information such as available modes and current
screen metrics. Display Overlord was specifically designed for
multimedia applications, games, or other kiosk-like projects. The
plugin gracefully handles multiple displays, and captures screens
before switching resolutions to avoid repositioning desktop icons or
disturbing open application windows.
Version 2.0.1 fixes issues with stretched (widescreen) display modes
on Mac OS X. Stretched modes are now properly reported in modes
lists, and can be specifically requested when changing resolutions.
Display Overlord is compatible with Mac OS Classic/Carbon, Mac OS X
PowerPC, and Mac OS X Intel. Non functional stubs are also provided
for Windows targets. The free download includes full source code:
