I am currently using XMX Toolkit 2.0.1 to parse and create XML
strings. While it works and does everything I need it to do, it is
very slow. [...]

Have you contacted the author?

Yes, just wanted to check my other options in the mean time. Considering that it hasn't been updated in almost two years, I wouldn't blame him for not giving it any attention.

I kind of doubt XML Toolkit will be updated any time soon. I dunno what the cause of any speed issues might be -- I've never needed to parse a large enough quantity of XML that this was ever an issue -- however, XML Toolkit also doesn't properly store UTF-8 strings. It's totally, 100% useless for dealing with Unicode data, which makes it totally, 100% useless for parsing or generating plist data. I've mentioned this numerous times, but it still hasn't been updated.

I don't fault Amar for not updating it -- we don't always have time to keep up old projects as much as we might like. However, it would be nice if someone could. I've taken a shot a few times, but each time I end up stalling out because I just haven't been able to find the time to read all the info on the nitty-gritty details of XML.
