Does anyone have any thoughts about eSellerate's serial number scheme? After
reading about it, it seems to incorporate the hashing, and random values
that seem to be the popular methods on this thread. Is anyone going this
route with their software?

I don't know anything about the algorithm, but I use eSellerate's serial numbers, and (as I just found out today), my software *still* doesn't have any stolen or faked serial numbers in distribution. Of course, since it's a niche product and not widely popular, I'm not sure whether this is valid commentary on eSellerate's serial numbers! :-)
