It's actually remarkably stable. I've been fairly happy with RB on this project. The only real problems I've had are with record locking in Valentina, which has really been pissing me off! And Valentina 2.0 has been in 'beta' for years, so I can't migrate to it. I'm considering switching to another database back-end.

I should say that I have perhaps been unfair towards Valentina here, and should recognise its good points. Specifically, used properly, it is really fast and it has allowed me to develop my application really quickly. It's one of the most full-featured single-user database engines available, and Ruslan, the main developer and proprietor or Paradigma, does work hard to support his users.

To be fair, it could perhaps be aspects of my use of V4RB that have exacerbated my problems with record locking. I presently redesigning my schema to be more efficient anyway, and hopefully this will address some of the lock problems.

I have found V4RB a bit difficult to debug, and unforgiving at times, but I dare say most of these problems are addressed to some extent in 2.0. I haven't been prepared to upgrade to 2.0 because it's not released yet.

Valentina probably is the best single-user database available for RB at the moment. I just wish Ruslan would hurry up and make a release version of 2.0 :-)
