I've been fighting these file types and icons for several months. Here's the
latest information, but I don't know how to get to the finish line.
Build Settings:
Build for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9
Creator code: clhX
Filetype:
Name: Dashset
Mac Creator: Dash
Mac Type: Dash
Document icon is set
Extgension: .gdb
This document is really a Valentina database, in case that enters into it.
I compile the program.
I run it on OS X and create a document. It has the icon that I want. When I
run the app and do File Open, this document is an available choice. If I
double-click on the file, it opens my app.
I copy the file and the Classic app to OS 9.
The icon is just a document icon.
If I run the OS 9 app and do a File Open, my file is an available choice.
Double-clicking on the icon gives me a dialog box that says it can't find
the application program that created the document and offers to open it with
my OS 9 app.
If I run the program on OS 9 and create a new document, it has the generic
document icon and it gives the me same message (if I double-click on it)
that the copied document gave me.
The Bundle flag is NOT set on this document. (That comes from a suggestion
of Thomas Tempelmann's, but I don't know what the corrective action is.)
The custom icon flag is NOT set on this document.
