Has anyone seen a conflict with Norton Anti Virus' AutoProtect feature?

Some of my users are reporting a consistent conflict that I can't reproduce.

I create a temporary file using TemporaryFolder, and then use OpenAsMovie on it. For these users, OpenAsMovie returns Nil if AutoProtect is on, otherwise it suceeds.

Has anyone else seen this?

I can't remember when I read it, but Norton Anti Virus' AutoProtect has been mentioned several times on the lists as a problem with REALbasic's open routines. The only solution was to turn it off.

Perhaps a search of the listarchives might turn up another solution.

I searched Auto Protect and found the thread concerned $$TestFile$$ files. <http://support.realsoftware.com/listarchives/realbasic-nug/2003-09/ msg01838.html>

Still might affect others as well.

HTH,

Terry
