Just got my XP box set up (finally) for web surfing and RB testing/development (along with my two Macs). Are there any books or on-line tutorials that cover networking from a Mac perspective? (specifically, adding an XP machine to an otherwise all-Mac network?) I don't really care if the PC can see the Macs or not, but I need the Macs to see the PC to be able to drop files from (either of) the Macs onto the XP box after virus checking them. If it helps, it's 10/100BT ethernet into a FriendlyNet 4-port router, and hooked to my cable modem.

I usually just setup my Panther box to enable Windows Sharing, and then make a network drive on the PC to that share point. It is the most painless setup that I have done between Macs and PCs (and I have done a lot).

I just access the Mac for the first time from the Windows box by typing into an Internet Explorer bar:

    \\192.168.1.1\MyUserName

Of course you need to put your Mac IP and your user name. Then it will ask you for the password, and later on you can set it up as a Network Drive.
