As an analogy (of which this thread reminded me), last year our town had auditions for "Miss Fourth of July," who would sing the anthem before our fireworks display. My daughter (then a fourth grader) was a participant, as the age range went from hers through high-school age. Well, the winner was a high school senior who sang in the choir and did musical theater.

Make no mistake: the winner was fantastic, and deserved the win under the format of the contest, but the overall effect was that t-ballers got fed to Roger Clemens.
