I have an app, which up to this moment of time, forced no registered
user to send an error report.

Now, I have someone, who told me, that a registration number is not
accepted.

is this a usability problem?

Do your registration numbers contain zero, "oh", one, "ell" or any other letters/numbers that can be confused?

do you display the registration number as the user enters it or have it obscured as they type. Maybe they have a slightly dodgy keyboard and are skipping or repeating letters.

Can they copy and paste the number in and if so, do you trim leading and trailing spaces?

Could the number be affected by any international settings? An early beta of a product I tested recently didn't accept the registration number when I tried to enter it with my usual Australian location (don't know why) and I had to change to USA to have it accepted.

If you use dates in the registration number processing do you have any assumptions about the date order, including assuming that the date order matches the normal order for their selected location (eg: someone in Europe using US dates)?
