"Blah blah blah blah blah ...."

That is what it sounds like when I use the Speak() method included in REALbasic 5.5.5. For example, if I take the code for Speak directly from the Language Reference guide, this is the output I hear.

Input: Speak "Please enter some text in the field!"
Output: "Blah enter blah text blah the blah!"

Other examples of this 'blah'ish output include:
Input: Speak "Today's date is, Thursday, March 31, 2005."
Output: "Blah blah blah, blah, blah blah, blah."

I've thought that perhaps this issue has to do with a bad text-to-speech engine that is installed. Past posts on this list infer to the fact that speech synthesis is included by default with Windows XP. So where does the constant output of 'blah' mixed with a few standard words come from? Is this standard behavior, and if not what do you think could be the problem so that I may go about rectifying the situation.

Thanks,

Andy
