I have a couple of questions about drawing, the paint event and layering:

- if I have a smaller control-style canvas on a larger region-style canvas does
the 'paint' event of the region canvas always get fired when there is a
redraw/refresh of the control canvas? Mine seems to and I want it to stop! It
also refreshes the entire region canvas so there are many redraws happening in
other controls that don't seem to need it... this leads to...

- how to we get back to the initial 'clear' state of a canvas? If it is on a
Metal window there seems to be no way to 'clear' the canvas so the metal shows
through again. Everything I've tried clears it to some opaque color unless I
start masking stuff and it seems like I shouldn't need to do that....

frustrated in redrawland

Regards,

Steve
