There are sometimes perfectly legitimate reasons to have blinking text.
I created an app for a client which monitored some embedded processes
and their values. The app was part of a multi-app projection system
in the client's control room. When the operators' attention would
need to be grabbed, I would turn the colors of the values red and
blink the text at decreasing intervals depending on how much time
passed before the alert was acknowledged.

I stand corrected, perhaps a bad idea. Sorry.
