Hi Tommy,
I often use programs like SolidWorks to export into a format that
Blender can open. www.blender.org then I use 3DMF workshop to
convert the 'blendered' .obj files to 3dmf. Very quick and painless.

It can convert obj or 3DS to 3DMF.
