Joseph, I guess I formed these assumptions seeing how a text editor (say BBEdit) can open just about any file, and display 'something' from it, while seemingly not 'breaking' it.BBEdit is not a Unicode text editor; the REALbasic EditField is. So if you give it some text that isn't already Unicode, it has to be converted to Unicode to be stored in the EditField. Ah, that makes sense.
