You should use whichever you prefer.

I wonder, if two different system which keep disjunct information,
is really helpful...

It's helpful in that there are some people who prefer a web message board to a mailing list, and there was previously no acceptable means of group discussion for those people before. But yes, it does mean that community knowledge is going to be a bit more fragmented -- that's the price we pay for being more widely accessible.
