Is there any way <for an application> to detect if a machine (Mac and Win32) is using a LAN or a Dial-up connection?

Hi Carlo

What aspect of LAN vs Dialup are you interested in detecting?

Ethernet interface vs modem interface vs wireless interface?

Full time access vs connection based access?

  Currently 'connected' or not?

  High bandwidth vs low bandwidth?

Flat fee rate vs per minute charges?

What about a first hop LAN (wired or wireless) that connects to an
AirPort Base station which dials its modem on demand? Is that LAN or Dialup?

What specifically do you want to measure?

Joe Huber
