Hi there,
You should be able to locate a lengthy discussion about the pros and cons of
using the apple event NewAppleEvent("MSWD","dovb","MSWD") in the archives.
That's what I do (on the Mac side, anyway), and it works well for me.
Rs states since a couple of years that "We are working on getting apps to
run outside the Office folder." in their Office automation- read me, and
I've tried a couple of times to ask them via the NUG if this is still the
case, and as far as I remember William once said "yes".
